Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple is returning in 2020

Nickelodeon’s iconic ‘90s action-adventure TV game show Legends of the Hidden Temple is back — with a twist.

The show’s reboot is geared towards adults — who grew up watching the show during its three-season run from 1993-1995 and subsequent reruns in the early 2000s — and will preserve many features of the original such as the Moat Crossing in the initial stage, Olmec and the Temple Run.

The show’s original premise? Six teams of two children (one boy and one girl) competed to retrieve one of the historical artifacts from inside a “Mayan temple” by performing physical stunts and answering questions based on history, mythology and geography, while guided by a host.

The show, which has inspired mobile games and a movie, has raised the stakes by moving out of Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida into an unnamed jungle, with more difficult challenges and far bigger prizes.

“Bringing back ‘Legends’ for Quibi is a dream come true. I have been so lucky to be part of this defining millennial show, and now there is a defining millennial platform to go with it. I couldn’t be more excited,” executive producer Scott A. Stone said, who is also one of the original creators of the show.

While a release date for Legends of the Hidden Temple has not been confirmed, it will be available on Quibi, a mobile-only streaming service which launches on April 6, 2020.

It’s also unconfirmed whether original host Kirk Fogg will be resuming his duties on the show.
