Nigar Johar Becomes First Female Lieutenant General In Pakistan’s History

Pakistan Army has promoted Major General Nigar Johar as Lieutenant General. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Tuesday. She is the first female officer promoted to this rank.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Nigar Johar hails from Panjpeer, District Swabi of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). She is now the first female Surgeon General of Pakistan Army.

In 2017, however, she had become the third woman officer of the Army to reach the rank of major general. According to a Dawn report, Lieutenant General Nigar Johar was among the 25 brigadiers who were promoted to the rank of major general.

She belongs to the Army Medical Corps and has progressed over the years tremendously.

Moreover, Lieutenant General Nigar Johar is the daughter of Col Qadir. He served in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Lieutenant General Nigar Johar is also the niece of retired Maj Mohammad Aamir. A former Pakistan Army officer retired Maj Mohammad Aamir had served in the ISI as well.

Lieutenant General Nigar Johar lost her parents in a car accident a long time ago.

Also, four sisters are already serving in different government departments. However, the youngest Zoha Malik Sher has also cleared the final step of CSS. Laila (2008), Shireen (2010), Sassi and Marvi (2017), and now Zoha (2019) are the pride of Pakistan.

Besides, Zoha cleared her written examination in November 2019, and after clearing the final interview, she has been designated in the Office Management Group (OMG). The results were announced on June 17, 2020.
