Shab-e-Barat has great significance over others nights as it is a night of forgiveness. It comes under the mid of the eighth month of the Islamic Calendar which is Shabhan. A peaceful night is thought to be a blessing for humans who get a chance to purify their souls by repenting over those deeds they have done deliberately or not.  In this sacred night, Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) forgives those who ask forgiveness, Allah blesses those who ask blessings, Allah gives food to those who ask for food. As Allah(سبحانه و تعالى) says: “Is there anyone who want forgiveness?”

Shab-e-Barat has many name but Laylatul Bara’ah is mostly used. Shab-e-Barat also called “The night of freedom”. Allah(سبحانه و تعالى) give relief to many people from Hell. Fast is mandatory in these two months but it is recommended to do so to earn a great reward. For this matter The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said :

“It is a month people disregard that is, between Rajab and Ramadan. In that month deeds are presented to the Lord of the Worlds, so I like my deeds to be presented while I am fasting.

Allah(سبحانه و تعالى) is Al Afuww who forgives all the bad deeds even if  it is more than from the bubble of sea but some deeds HE doesn’t forgive , The Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) said:

“Allah looks upon His creatures on the night of mid-Shaban and He forgives all His servants except two: one intent on hatred, and the homicide.”

Assumptions about Shab-e-Barat:

  1. Most people considered that on Shab-e-Barat holy spirits come to home just to seek their family members.
  2. Some people believe that the decisions of fate will be decided on this night which in such everything is decided from decades ago and only pray can change fate nothing else.
  3. Some believe that there is a special Tree in the heaven upon whose leaves are the names of all human beings, and whatever leaves drop during this night, those people are destined to die in this year.
  4. Many people take bath by some kind of tree’s leaves to ward off their bad deeds.

These all are assumptions and superstitions about Shab-e-Barat and have not concern to reality.
