ISLAMABAD – A group of 193 Pakistanis citizens, who were stuck in different areas of India due to the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown, were repatriated through Attari-Wagah border on Tuesday. The border was open for the first time after lockdown on Tuesday.
As per a message of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, these Pakistanis were stuck in different Indian states including Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal for recent weeks following the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown in India and closure of Attari-Wagah fringe.
They had come to India for such purposes as visit, pilgrimage or clinical treatment.
The Pakistan High Commission valued the understanding and persistence shown by these Pakistanis, and said the Mission was putting forth attempts for their early repatriation with the help of the Foreign Office and relevant national stakeholders.
